Die freiwillige Produktzertifizierung hat in Deutschland eine lange Tradition. So hat z. B. der deutsche Normenausschuß (DNA) bereits 1928 das Verbandszeichen [[DIN]] beim Reichspatentamt eintragen lassen. Mit der Einführung europäischer Produktnormen hat sich die „Landschaft“ freiwilliger Gütezeichen deutlich erweitert. <br />
